چکیده

Time-of-flight (TOF) cameras based on the Photomixing Detector (PMD) technology are capable of measuring distances to objects at high frame rates, making them valuable for many applications in robotics and computer vision. The distance measurements they provide, however, are affected by many factors, systematic and otherwise, incurring the need for calibrating them. This paper presents a technique for calibrating PMD cameras, in which we extend a recently-proposed calibration technique [Fuchs and May, 2007] to include intensity-related errors in depth measurement. Our model accounts for three major sources of error: the circular error resulting from the signal modulation process, the signal propagation delay, and the intensity-related error. Our experimental results confirm the advantage of considering the intensityrelated factors in the calibration process.

3D Vision by Using Calibration Pattern with Inertial Sensor and RBF Neural Networks

Camera calibration is a crucial prerequisite for the retrieval of metric information from images. The problem of camera calibration is the computation of camera intrinsic parameters (i.e., coefficients of geometric distortions, principle distance and principle point) and extrinsic parameters (i.e., 3D spatial orientations: ω, ϕ, κ, and 3D spatial translations: t(x), t(y), t(z)). The intrinsic c...

Accuracy Improvement in Camera Calibration

Camera calibration is a necessary and critical step in 3D object analysis. The accuracy of calibration results will affect the object’s position in world coordinates, especially for 3D object tracking. In this paper, we present a new camera calibration approach, and discuss its accuracy. We use 3D marks instead of 2D marks for calibration. Our experimental results show that our approach has the...

Calibration for 3D Reconstruction of Thermal Images

The calibration system presented in this article enables to calculate optical parameters i.e. intrinsic and extrinsic of both thermal and visual cameras used for 3D reconstruction of thermal images. Visual cameras are in stereoscopic set and provide a pair of stereo images of the same object which are used to perform 3D reconstruction of the examined object [8]. The thermal camera provides info...

Camera calibration using reflections in planar mirrors and object reconstruction using volume carving method

A calibration and three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction method is presented based on images reflected from planar mirrors and acquired with one camera. The geometric model of the camera–mirror set and a method of calibrating it are described. The calibration technique computes the model parameters using linear equations, and it is proved that the calibration is possible with the knowledge of on...

Camera Calibration for 3D Leaf-Image Reconstruction using Singular Value Decomposition

Features of leaves can be more precisely captured using 3D imaging. A 3D leaf image is reconstructed using two 2D images taken using stereo cameras. Reconstructing 3D from 2D images is not straightforward. One of the important steps to improve accuracy is to perform camera calibration correctly. By calibrating camera precisely, it is possible to project measurement of distances in real world to...

E ects of Camera Alignment Errors on StereoscopicDepth

We present in this paper a new analysis of relative sensitivity/importance of camera calibra-tion/alignment parameters on the performance of stereoscopic depth reconstruction. For a given stereoscopic vision system, once stereo correspondence is successfully established, the accuracy of 3D measurements depends on the overall geometric structure of the model in relation to object distances. The ...
